Recently, the industry’s first hydrogen dump truck led by Tonly Heavy Industries was unveiled at the 2021 United Nations Development Program Hydrogen Energy Industry Conference. On December 8, the 2021 United Nations Development Program Hydrogen Energy Industry Conference was held in Foshan with the theme of “Creating the Hydrogen Era and Carbon Neutrality Together”. A green “Big Mac” hydrogen battery dump truck was successfully unveiled among other hydrogen energy vehicles, attracting a lot of attention and interest.

This green “Big Mac” is the first off-road hydrogen-powered wide-body dump truck jointly developed by Shaanxi Tongli Heavy Industry Co Ltd, a leading off-highway wide-body vehicle company, in conjunction with Foshan Xianhu Laboratory and Foshan Xianhu Hydrogen Power Technology Co Ltd. The vehicle is 10.8 metres long, 3.7 metres wide, 4.2 metres high, and weighs 100 tonnes. Its hydrogen battery system is provided by Foshan Xianhu Hydrogen Technology, an incubation company of Foshan Xianhu Laboratory. At present, the vehicle has been tested under working conditions, which will help Tonly Heavy Industry continue to maintain its leading position in the field of new energy wide-body dump trucks.

Under the national dual-carbon goal, the development of domestic hydrogen energy industry is entering the fast lane. Hydrogen-powered heavy trucks are becoming a new development trend, and domestic and foreign companies have begun to deploy. The field of heavy trucks with long battery life and heavy load is generally considered to be a very important application scenario of hydrogen fuel cells.
